Students will enjoy learning new skills for decorating cookies and other confections that will become works of art that are (almost!) too good to eat. We will build on techniques learned to create beautiful projects that can be shared with family. Themes will change weekly and students will have a great time while learning and creating. Students will also decorate an apron that is theirs to keep at the end of the session

Come and enjoy an hour in the kitchen. Whether you’ve cooked before or never touched a pot or pan, this class is for you! Over these six weeks, we will learn nutrition, kitchen utensils, kitchen safety, and table etiquette. We will also be cooking up a wide variety of food. Be prepared to make homemade salads and dressings, one pot dinners, desserts, and end with homemade sauce and pasta!

We bet your child loves going to amusement parks to experience the variety of fast, dropping, and spinning rides, but have they ever thought about the science that goes into building those rides and the people who are responsible for designing them? In Snapology's Amusement Park Adventures class, students will become engineers of their own amusement park rides and will learn the core physics and engineering concepts used to make a ride thrilling!

Then Scientific Mayhem is the class you have been looking for! We provide hands-on exciting activities for students who can't get enough science in school. We encourage students to make hypotheses and conduct experiments individually and in small groups. Your student can make great scientific discoveries and generate a little mayhem in the process.

The Ukulele is the perfect recreational instrument choice for students wanting to learn how to play songs and have fun playing! Intro to Ukulele is a step-by-step approach to learning with no previous experience necessary. No boring lectures-just interactive instruction in an atmosphere of fun that will explore chords and strumming patterns with plenty of toe-tapping!

Does your child need to learn to schedule their time more efficiently? Does your child have test anxiety? Life hacks and prioritization skills can be developed in life if practiced early. This class will help your child find-tune organizational and study skills and how to best apply these skills in school.
This fun and exciting after-school volleyball program is for all students in Grades 3–6. All skill levels are welcomed and encouraged to participate. This fun program is designed to build fundamental skills, learn good sportsmanship and teamwork while staying active and enhancing school friendships. A tournament will highlight the last couple of participation days.
Students need to wear tennis shoes (no flip-flops) and kneepads are recommended, but not mandatory.

This will be a great opportunity for the students at Union with like-faith to connect with each other building lasting friendships as well as developing character that will enable them to make a positive impact at Union Elementary and beyond in the Lakota School district.

Come see what archery is all about in this introductory archery enrichment program. During the course, students will learn safety rules, proper handling of equipment, proper shooting techniques, learn scoring and play games designed to improve performance. Each student will have 6 weeks to practice and evaluate their skills while ending the course with a fun tournament during the final class. Students will meet each week regardless of weather. In the event of inclement weather, we will go inside and have classroom discussion on archery. Students will watch instructional videos and practice posture techniques with stretchy bands. We will watch the weather and go back outside as the opportunity arises. Two instructors will be teaching this course to ensure the safety of the students and a 9:1 student to teacher ratio. There will be two ranges set up with three targets in each range. This means that only 3 students at most will be at one target at any given time. This ensures student safety and plenty of shooting time! You will receive a newly designed awesome Archery Club t-shirt as well!

Would your child know what to do if they have forgotten their house key? What if they are home alone and they are choking? This course is designed to teach your child about being home alone safely. An informative parent guide is included in the student manual, and provides an avenue for discussion between parent and child. Join Star Glazers as we learn with clay and pottery paints. We’ll create some really cool pieces from clay that will get fired in the kiln. Then we’ll paint them and they’ll get glazed and fired!

This class includes the introduction to the basic use of the pottery wheel as well as basic hand-building techniques. This is a great opportunity for students to receive hands-on experience. Classes on the pottery wheel emphasize technical, personal and individual development for future abilities in the art world. Students will each complete a small pot on the pottery wheel and at least one other item using hand-building techniques. All artwork will be glazed by the student and fired. The Academy of Cinematic Arts’ Digital Storytelling ASEP is a unique program full of fun and creativity. Kids learn the process of making a movie from start to finish. Using iPads as a movie camera, kids learn the basics of storytelling from screenwriting, directing, and acting to film angles, lighting, and editing. By the end the workshop, every student has a short film to share with the world. Come join us and make a movie!

Stitch and Sew Kidz- Enriching Kidz newest class! Taught by an expert! This small class-size- 2 week hands-on class is geared for 3rd and 4th graders that teaches them the basics of sewing. They will be creating fun, child friendly projects that teaches basic sewing stitches, cutting materials from a template, threading needles, tying knots, sewing buttons and how to correct mistakes. Kids love seeing their finished project! This class also teaches fine motor skills, spatial thinking and problem-solving skills Students will learn: • Running Stitch • Blanket Stitch • How to thread a Needle and Tie a Knot • How to Sew a 2 Holed and 4 holed button • How to Follow a Pattern • How to Correct Mistakes
Union’s Drama Club returns this year! Open to grades 3-6, students will rehearse weekly and end with performances for the school and families on Wednesday, May 17.
